RSSHarvey enjoys a great day out at Alderley Edge Hockey Club
October 2011
As part of a Grow Your Own Club Day special, Harvester's Head Gardener Harvey made a star appearance at Alderley Edge Hockey Club on Sunday 23rd October, to help celebrate the opening of their new all-weather pitch.
As official sponsor of Great Britain Hockey and the England Hockey Board, Harvester sent Harvey along to see the club officially unveil their new state-of-art hockey centre, a project which has been seven years in the making.
Alderley Edge, which was voted Harvester Club of the Season earlier in the year, took the decision to hold its Grow Your Own open day during the same weekend and worked closely with the EHB to ensure it was a day filled with family fun.
Harvey got into the spirit of things by taking part in a game of Quicksticks, Rush Hockey and The Cage, wowing the crowd with his skills. He was also lucky enough to receive a few handy tips from GB internationals Katie Long and Kirsty Mackay, who were on hand to lend their support throughout the day.
Alex Meyer, marketing manager for Harvester, said: "It was great to be among the hundreds of people who turned out for the club's big day, especially as they were voted Harvester Club of the Season earlier this year."
"There was a strong community feel to the day, with lots of young families enjoying the many activities on offer. Harvey seemed to enjoy himself too, brushing up on his hockey skills and making lots of new friends."
Supported by Harvester, the Grow Your Own programme allows hockey clubs to gain access to a series of excellent resources and advice, created specifically to assist those that aspire to be well run, welcoming and successful.
