Flavour combinations: Tangy pink slaw salad

When it comes to salad, we really know our stuff – so why not put together the perfect accompaniment to your favourite dishes with a little help from our salad experts?

This colourful recipe for tangy pink slaw goes perfectly with pork ribs or a smoky steak from our smoke & fire range. It’s a bright and tasty treat that really packs a punch, bringing some of the more overlooked ingredients, like pink pickled cabbage, into the limelight. Slawsome.

Ingredients (serves one)

  • ½ pink pickled cabbage
  • 1 quarter white onion, sliced
  • 1 quarter red onion, sliced
  • 1 cooked beetroot, cubed
  • 1 grated carrot
  • 50ml vinaigrette
  • 1 handful raisins
  • Sprinkle of paprika crumb

Method

1. Start with a base of pink pickled cabbage, giving a lovely acidic base to the slaw.

2. Next, add in the thinly sliced onions, cubed beetroot and carrot for a rich splash of colour and sweetness.

3. Pour a small amount of the vinaigrette over the salad and mix evenly so it covers all your ingredients.

4. Throw on the raisins and finish with a sprinkle of smoked paprika crumb for some added texture.
